Maximize Your JEE Preparation: Proven Time-Table Strategies for Aspiring IITians

For a consistent study approach it is important to have a proper timetable while preparing for JEE examination. One of the most challenging examinations cannot be cracked without having an organized plan. The joint entrance examination (JEE) enables your admission in the most prestigious institutes of the nation, hence requires a robust approach. 

 

Importance of timetable for JEE Aspirants 

Having a structured timetable is crucial for JEE aspirants struggling with time management. It allows them to prioritize and allocate time effectively for various academic tasks, enhancing their ability to track progress and evaluate achievements. Tailoring this schedule to meet individual needs helps maintain discipline and routine, fostering regular study habits and efficient time use. This disciplined approach not only minimizes time wastage but also promotes healthy brain functioning, aiding aspirants in their preparation to excel in the examination.

The Correct Approach for the TimeTable for JEE Aspirants:  

The time slots for the study session and the subject should be chosen according to the customized needs of the aspirant. Having a proper routine for self-study plays an important role in setting the JEE aspirant on the right track to achieve their goal. 

First 3 weeks of JEE Preparation: Excluding the coaching and school study hours, every aspirant must sit for 4-5 hours during the first three weeks of their preparation for the JEE examination. While studying after the coaching, ensure to complete the revision of the portion that was taught in the coaching or school. This helps in grasping and clearing the doubts. For instance, if on Monday concepts of Physics were taught in the coaching, the student should solve the problems of the same concept on that day. Ensure that the timetable set by you is being followed at least 80% of the time for the first three weeks. Moreover, take a note to increase the 4-5 hours to 6-7 hours on the weekends. 

4-7 weeks of JEE Preparation: After successfully completing the implementation of the timetable set by you for the first three weeks of JEE Preparation, try to increase the time slots and sitting hours to push yourself more for rigorous studies. Increase your study hours by half an hour initially and then work towards achieving it without compromising your grasping power and interest. Follow the same pattern for the weekends. Ensure revision of the concepts on the same day as they are taught for deeper understanding. 

7 weeks and beyond: Once you have gained a firm grip on following the study timetable for up to 7 weeks, try to increase your self-study sessions by 6-7 hours. Always remember that self-study is the key to help you achieve your IIT goal. When sitting for 5-6 hours, the aspirants must ensure that they are at least following 90%  of the timetable set by them. Once the student has followed the above approach for the first 7 weeks of their studies, it will become easy for them to dedicatedly stick to it throughout their preparation.  

Important tips: The timetable should be revised and updated every week, preferably on a Sunday, so that the studies are customised for the coming week, in a way where the student is able to fill up the potholes in his/her preparation. 

For an organised and disciplined approach, it is important and very beneficial to the student to maintain a separate diary dedicated for writing and revising the timetable every week.

    Subject Rotation: Rotate Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics to maintain interest and optimize energy levels.
  • Afternoon Session
    Problem-Solving: After school, review morning concepts and solve related problems.
    Revision: Revisit school topics for clarity and retention, addressing any doubts to solidify understanding.
  • Evening Session
    Mock Tests: Regular mock tests familiarize you with the exam pattern and question types, preparing you for JEE conditions and reducing anxiety.
